Event of the Year

Hosted by Le Centre culturel franco-manitobain (CCFM) and Théâtre Cercle Molière, HYPERART acts as the largest artistic hub during the renowned Nuit Blanche evening in Winnipeg. The interactive, immersive and ambitious multidisciplinary event held in the heart of Saint-Boniface brings together over 45 artists from diverse backgrounds and artistic disciplines to present their creative contemporary works.

Boo at the Zoo returned for the second year in 2022 after an extended hiatus to great acclaim with over 83,500 visitors attending during its 24 nights in October. This unique-themed evening event featured a cast of costumed characters, carnival rides, games, sweet and savoury treats. Performances by talented local aerialists, jugglers, contortionists, and fire dancers as well as live music created a dynamic and layered visitor experience.

The Morden Corn & Apple Festival is the largest street festival in the province offering live music, a children’s tent, petting zoo, artisan and markets, midway, beer gardens and, of course, free corn and apple juice tasting stations.

After the 2021 rebrand, a new web app launched in 2022 to improve visitor experience and the festival took a new direction for the headlining music acts modernizing the festival, bringing in record numbers of patrons.

Holiday Alley, hosted in Selkirk's historic downtown, brings artists, culture, creativity and community to the fore. Adding Indigenous workshops, a short film fest and live music, Holiday Alley brings thousands of people to the core every November – and local businesses report it as their best weekend of the year, launching the start of the holiday shopping season.

Gimli is already a well-known summer destination, but winter is where things heat up. Building on the already existing Ice Fishing Village, Ice Fishing Village (Ís þorp) the idea was to expand the winter on-ice village experience with events and derbies, culinary offerings, colourful shacks, and plowed ice roads built around the area’s Icelandic heritage. Adding snow, ice and light installations, this concept is the result of many businesses and committees working to make Ís þorp “the place to be” to celebrate winter!
