Sustainability is at the core of Pineridge Hollow’s values and daily operations, whether through regenerative farming, composting, geothermal heating, making conscious purchasing decisions, or supporting local farmers and producers to reduce its environmental impact. The company’s recent expansion of The Village was also done with sustainability in mind, by using eco-friendly building materials, protecting the nearby forest and working to preserve the endangered Silver Aster.

With a focus on environmental stewardship, ways to reduce their carbon impact, and creating a more welcoming and diverse outdoor space, Wild Loon Adventure Co. brings paddling tourists to many communities that are not otherwise accessible or traditionally popular. Wild Loon uses a leave no trace approach and actively advocates for the protection and preservation of the land and water to be enjoyed by all, both presently and in the future. Wild Loon always seeks permission to travel through waterways and lands, engages with communities and supports remote economies through various activities like camping, hotel stays, eating locally or hiring local Indigenous families to help shuttle boats and assist with operations.

Wild Loon believes that the enjoyment of natural spaces inherently encourages and supports conservation efforts and strives to deliver a sustainable tourism service by educating visitors, and reducing their environmental footprint through their operations.

Located on the edge of the Oak Hammock Marsh Wildlife Management Area, the Harry J. Enns Wetland Discovery Centre plays a crucial role in educating visitors about the value of wetland ecosystems and their conservation. To reduce its ecological footprint, the centre implements sustainable practices such as energy-efficient buildings, waste reduction measures, water conservation initiatives, the use of renewable energy sources, the preservation of natural habitats, responsible wildlife viewing, and monitoring and reporting sustainability indicators.

At The Forks, the goal is clear: Target Zero – zero garbage, zero water waste, and zero carbon emissions. With innovative environmental practices, known as 'where the two greens meet,' The Forks saves over $253,000 annually and cuts their greenhouse gas emissions by over one kilotonne. From reusing fryer vegetable oils as biofuel, to investing in on-site compost transformation, The Forks is committed to pushing sustainability boundaries.
