Love to Fish? It Could Be Your Job
We’ve launched a new campaign promoting the fishing industry as a source for summer seasonal employment.
Our summer jobs campaign uses a mix of social media, digital video, and other promotional tactics to reach our target audiences and encourage them to visit our campaign landing page at huntfishmanitoba.com/summer-jobs. This page has resources about employment in the fishing industry as well as tips for reaching out to fishing lodges or outfitters about summer jobs.
Addressing Industry Needs
Fishing lodges play a crucial role in Manitoba's tourism industry, attracting visitors from around the world. We’ve heard from operators that finding seasonal staff can be difficult, impacting their ability to provide top-tier experiences. This campaign seeks to bridge that gap by raising awareness of available jobs and guiding job seekers toward summer opportunities.
Campaign Objectives
Our goals with this campaign are to:
- Increase Awareness: Ensure job seekers, including students and young adults, are aware of seasonal positions at fishing lodges and with outfitters.
- Drive Traffic to Employer Resources: Direct job seekers to a dedicated landing page, huntfishmanitoba.com/summer-jobs, where they can access links to job postings, industry insights and find information about fishing lodges and outfitters in Manitoba.
- Support Industry Partners: Provide fishing lodges and outfitters with promotional tools and advice to help them advertise job opportunities.
Multi-Channel Strategy
To maximize reach and engagement, we’re using the following tactics:
- Paid Media: Meta and TikTok ads, YouTube promotions, search engine marketing and display ads.
- Owned Media: A dedicated landing page, blog content and organic social media outreach.
- Industry Toolkit: A shareable one-pager designed to help lodges and outfitters communicate employment opportunities.
Target Audiences
The campaign primarily targets young job seekers (ages 16-25), especially students looking for summer employment. A secondary audience includes parents (ages 40-60), who often play a role in influencing job decisions. Geographically, the campaign focuses on urban and rural Manitoba, ensuring broad outreach across key markets such as Winnipeg, Brandon and various rural communities.
Campaign Timeline
The campaign runs from early February to March 28, aligning with hiring cycles for summer employment in the tourism industry.
