How to Obtain Insurance
Understand the importance of insurance and get the coverage you need for your business.
Your tourism business offers visitors the opportunity to create memorable experiences. It’s essential to safeguard your business against unforeseen challenges. Insurance offers a shield against potential risks that could disrupt the rhythm of your tourism venture.
Take the First Step
Securing the right insurance can be challenging depending on the scope of services you provide. To access the right coverage, work with an insurance broker to develop a robust risk management strategy and to ensure you have coverage that meets your needs. When changes occur to material costs due to factors such as inflation, businesses should contact their existing broker to discuss if their insurance coverage needs to be increased.
Businesses are encouraged to begin a dialogue with a broker as a first step. Contact the Insurance Brokers Association of Manitoba (IBAM) to find a broker that would be a good match for your business.
The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) has helpful resources available for businesses. Visit their resources page for helpful information and considerations.
IBC has a team of risk managers available at no cost to help business owners:
- Understand risks and how to reduce them.
- Create and evaluate a risk management plan.
- Find a path to affordable insurance.
In 2021, IBC and IBAM were invited by the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce to present information on Commercial Insurance to the industry. This included the current state of the insurance industry and Manitoba’s commercial market, how the insurance industry is supporting businesses and helpful resources.
